Golden brown fried French toast with a soft center and crispy surface. This sweet breakfast and dessert classic can be served either savory with bacon and maple syrup or fruity with warm forest berries.

Basic preparation
Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, salt and optional cinnamon.
Briefly soak the bread in the mixture so it absorbs the liquid but does not fall apart.
Heat butter in a pan and fry the bread slices until golden brown.
Variant 1: Bacon & Maple Syrup
Top the French toast with crispy bacon and serve generously with maple syrup.
Variant 2: Forest berries
Warm the berries briefly and then pour them over the warm French toast.
