What is enamel tableware?
Enamel is derived from the Old Franconian word smalt and means to melt. From there, the term was adopted into common usage under the better-known term enamel or enamel. Basically, it describes the manufacturing process at its core, as enamel is a molten glass that is poured onto the raw object.
What is enamel coating?
The molten glass creates a sealing layer that is food-neutral and resistant to rust. Enamel is therefore ideal for pots or dishes. The Petromax Mug, Plate and Bowls made of enamel and the Percolator are made of steel in their original form and are coated with this molten glass to make them robust adventure tableware for you.
Is enamel harmful?
As enamel is made from similar raw materials to glass, it also has comparable advantages when used with food: Enamel is harmless, does not release any ingredients and is easy to clean. As long as your Petromax enamel cookware with stainless steel rim is undamaged, it poses no danger to you. In addition, enamel is very heat-resistant, durable and therefore has a sustainable and environmentally friendly character.
How heat-resistant is enamel?
Enameled cookware is highly durable and generally very heat-resistant. This applies in particular to cookware. The Petromax percolator can therefore be used over an open fire without any problems. Dinnerware, on the other hand, is not permanently exposed to the high temperatures that occur during cooking. It often has decorative or brand imprints that could be damaged if exposed to high temperatures. Therefore, do not expose your enamel dinnerware to unnecessarily high temperatures.
One that has become too hot Enamel mug should never be quenched at freezing temperature. Enamel is a hard material that reacts sensitively to extreme temperature changes. This can cause cracks or it can shatter. Even if enamel dishes are suitable for various heat sources, enamel should never be placed in the microwave.
Can enamel be cleaned in the dishwasher?
To keep the surface of your enamel tableware looking good for a long time, it is best to wash it by hand. Cleaning in the dishwasher dulls the material and is generally not necessary. Enamel is very easy to clean. A little warm water and washing-up liquid is all you need. Even dried-on food residues can be removed almost automatically after a short soak. With the most original cleaning method, you are always on the safe side with your enamel tableware.
You are also welcome to use a soft brush. You should avoid aggressive cleaning agents, steel and wire brushes or cleaning sponges - these attack the surface unnecessarily. If your enamel has lost some of its shine, you can refresh the dishes with a little lemon juice. Possible limescale stains can be removed with vinegar water. It is important to dry the dishes thoroughly after washing and store them in a dry place. If you keep this in mind, your Petromax Enamel mug, -Bowls and -Plate smooth and shiny for a long time.
How cut-resistant, scratch-resistant and break-proof is enamel?
Enamel tableware behaves in a similar way to glass. It has numerous advantages such as sustainability, durability and food safety. Basically, enamel can be described as shatterproof and resistant to cuts and scratches. However, if your enamel tableware falls onto a hard floor, the coating could chip in places. There is no likelihood of the crockery breaking in two.
Enamel tableware is therefore much more robust than ceramic tableware, also in terms of cut and scratch resistance. Regular use cannot harm your enamel tableware.
Which material is suitable for camping tableware?
In the camping sector, particularly light and robust materials that are also easy to clean are important. This is where the Petromax enamel cookware with stainless steel rim comes into its own.
