How do I proceed if I want to complain about my product?

If a product is not to your satisfaction and you would like to contact us to resolve a possible problem or complain about the product, the best way to do so is as follows: Always email your concern to and send us the proof of purchase, pictures or videos of the product, and your full contact information. You can be sure that your mail will be processed promptly. If it takes a little longer, there is an increased volume of inquiries in the service area.

Please avoid writing a second mail about the same issue or leaving an additional message on the answering machine. This increases the volume of work in the service area. For us, your satisfaction comes first, so we guarantee to be there for you and your request as quickly as possible.

Where can I buy Petromax products, accessories or spare parts?

Please contact a dealer you trust. With our dealer locator you have the possibility to find a dealer near you in our worldwide dealer network. Many of our partners also sell online: You can also find these dealers in the dealer search. Alternatively, you can also order directly from us in the Petromax online store.

Where is Petromax made?

Since 1910, the Petromax kite brand has stood for German engineering, tradition and the highest quality. This guiding principle still accompanies us every day, especially in the development and manufacture of our products.

Thus, in our manufactory at the Magdeburg site, the Petromax strong light lamps are assembled by hand from more than 200 individual parts. All our products originate from in-house development at the company headquarters in Germany. Our product development team of engineers and product designers designs, constructs, tests and improves new products in Magdeburg every day. We pay strong attention to animal welfare when manufacturing our natural-traditional clothing fabrics in Germany - for example, the loden produced in Germany is guaranteed mulesing-free. A large part of our cooking equipment is also made in Germany, this concerns for example our grill and fire bowls as well as the wrought iron pans, the hobo stove or the tripod ring.

In order to meet our high quality and product standards and customer expectations for cast iron, we have decided to set up our own cast iron production line in Asia. We could not offer the product quality of Petromax cast iron with production in Germany. Thus, we have direct influence on the production standards and the quality and grade testing. Our cast iron products are subsequently certified by an independent German institute, so you can always be sure of the high quality of our products.

Do you have a factory outlet?

There is no classic factory outlet. However, in April 2018 the Petromax World opened its doors directly at the site in Magdeburg.

Here, all products of the traditional brand Petromax are exhibited on about 200m². There you can take a closer look at the assortment, touch it and of course buy it.

We are also happy to offer detailed product advice on site.

Do you offer plant tours?

No, because for insurance reasons a tour of the plant and production facility in Magdeburg is unfortunately not possible.

Our products

Are the Petromax products also independently tested?

The cast iron for our products, such as fire pots, pans, loaf pans and Co. is regularly tested for food safety by an independent institute. All other products that come into contact with food are also tested regularly.

How do I use my Petromax products correctly?

Ideally, you have read the instructions for use of your Petromax product and/or the instructions on the packaging. In the manual and/or on the packaging you will find tips and tricks for correct use.

How do I properly care for my Petromax products?

For us, a product is only good if it is durable and resistant. Nevertheless, you will enjoy your product longer if you care for and use it properly, as described in the user manual.

We also offer a variety of accessories that make it even easier for you to properly clean and care for your product. Just take a look at our care paste for cast and wrought iron, the technical Vaseline or the cleaning polish and the soft polishing cloths.

How do I use the care paste for cast and wrought iron?

After using your cast or wrought iron, clean it with clean water and dry the surface thoroughly. Then apply a thin layer of the maintenance paste to the surface, which should still be warm, and spread it out. Store your product unsealed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Afterwards, it is directly ready for use in the fire again. A subsequent rinsing of fire pot and co. is no longer necessary, because the Petromax care paste consists of natural, food-safe and tasteless ingredients.

Your cast or wrought iron companion will be optimally protected and preserved if you repeat the care process after each use.

Cleaning loden: How to properly care for Petromax Loden?

Your equipment made of Petromax Loden is absolutely easy to care for. Since loden fabric is naturally spark-resistant and at the same time odor-resistant, you can wear your clothing from the Petromax Loden series during strenuous excursions or around the campfire without body and smoke odor soaking into the fabric.

It is quite sufficient to air out your Petromax Loden outside the following day to make it smell fresh again. If the clothes have become extremely wet, let them dry lying down (do not hang them up). Coarse soiling (mud etc.) can be left to dry and then removed with a soft clothes brush.

As a rule, your Petromax loden clothes do not need to be washed regularly. It is enough to wash them in large intervals with the Petromax organic hand detergent for loden or take it to a dry cleaner.

You can safely iron your Petromax loden yourself, as this will smooth out the wool fibers again and thus support the water and wind resistance of your clothing. Set your iron to medium temperature and smooth the surface of your clothing with low pressure. You should cover the chest and shoulder areas with logo embroidery with ironing paper.

Do Petromax cast iron products need to be baked?

All Petromax cast irons are already pre-baked. You don 't need to bake them before first use, we've already done that for you. Delivered ready to use, you can try them out immediately - after a short rinse with warm water. Please make sure never to bring already burned-in cast iron products into contact with dishwashing detergent.

However, cast iron requires some care to keep it for a long time. If the patina gets damaged or your Petromax cast iron shows rust in some places because it was exposed to too much moisture during storage, you can counteract with simple steps. The Petromax cast iron is robust and forgiving of small mistakes in use. In such a case, depending on the severity of the rust, you can either simply re-grease (we recommend the Petromax care paste for cast and wrought iron due to its long durability ) or re-bake your cast iron. You can find out exactly how to do this in the instructions for Petromax cast iron in general on page 3.

Can I send my Petromax lamp or other products for repair?

We offer a warranty period of two years from the date of purchase. If your product cannot be used properly due to material damage or manufacturing defects, you are entitled to rectification. To do so, first contact the dealer from whom you purchased the product. In case of improper use or misuse of our products, no liability will be accepted and the warranty will be void. Outside of these two years, we cannot offer any repairs.

Can I sell one of my old Petromax lamps or other products with you?

No, we do not buy used products. Furthermore, we only sell new products.
