Which is better: fire pit or fire bowl?
A fire bowl is characterized by its closed shape: the fire stays safely in place, flying sparks and falling logs are prevented, and the ash is reliably collected. A fire pit, on the other hand, scores points with its open grid structure, which continuously supplies air from all sides. This ensures efficient combustion and keeps the fire alive for a long time. At the same time, the open design offers an unobstructed view of the flames. The Petromax Tyropit fire bowl combines the advantages of both variants and features innovative functions: The double-walled construction ensures optimal oxygen supply through staggered ventilation openings, while the removable ash tray makes cleaning easier and also serves as a collection container. An integrated spark dome in the ash tray guarantees additional air supply from below, which means the fire burns efficiently and with little smoke. At the same time, fuel remains safely inside the fire bowl. How big should a fire bowl be? The size of your fire bowl depends on your needs and the planned area of use. An inviting fire needs sufficient space, which is why fire bowls are often offered with a diameter between 60 and 100 cm. Keep in mind: the larger the fire, the more likely official regulations may apply. Even if the fire burns safely in the bowl, it is often subject to stricter permit requirements. So find out in good time about the regulations applicable in your region. Regardless of the size, always keep sufficient distance from flammable materials such as bushes, shrubs, or wooden fences. The robust construction and thoughtful design of the Petromax Tyropit fire bowl offer you safety and efficiency, no matter how big the fire is.

Which material is suitable for a fire bowl in the garden?
Fire bowls are available in various materials, but stainless steel sets standards in terms of longevity and resistance. The Petromax Tyropit is made of high-quality stainless steel, a material known for its rust resistance and stability even at high temperatures. To ensure you enjoy your fire bowl for a long time, proper care is crucial: remove ash residue after use and store the bowl dry. This is because even stainless steel can corrode in combination with moisture and ash. Stainless steel scores points not only with its robustness, but also with its visual durability. Even after numerous uses, your Tyropit fire bowl remains dimensionally stable and appealing – a true companion for your outdoor adventures.

Can you grill in a fire bowl?
Some fire bowls offer the possibility of being used as a grill as well. The Petromax Tyropit is far more than a practical all-rounder: it is a stylish element for your garden that creates the perfect atmosphere – ideal for roasting marshmallows over the flames. If you are looking for a robust and stylish grilling solution, there is no way around the Petromax Pyron. In combination with the matching griddle, the Pyron becomes a real eye-catcher: a high-quality fire barrel with a striking industrial look that is not only visually impressive but also culinary delight. Whether crunchy vegetables or juicy steaks – with the Petromax Pyron and the griddle, you can prepare grilling treats of the highest standard, just as you know them from Southern Europe.

Which fire bowl does not rust?
Fire bowls made of stainless steel, such as the Petromax Tyropit and our other fire bowls (fs38, 48, 58), are particularly resistant to rust. Nevertheless, even this high-quality fire bowl should not be left out in the rain unattended. Ash in connection with moisture can lead to rust even with stainless steel. We explain why: ash reacts with water and can cause flash rust within a very short time. Since ash is always produced when burning wood, this reaction occurs quickly if ash residue comes into contact with rain or humidity. Proximity to salty air or steel can also cause stainless steel to rust. The Petromax Tyropit offers you a simple solution: with its removable ash tray, you can easily remove residues. After the fire bowl has cooled down, you take out the ash tray and empty it. Then wipe both the fire bowl and the ash tray with clean water and a mild detergent and dry them thoroughly. You should avoid extinguishing with water if possible, as this can damage the stainless steel and create stress in the material due to the sudden temperature change. In an emergency, use sand or a powder fire extinguisher. Over time, a natural patina forms on the stainless steel surface of your Petromax Tyropit. This is not rust, but a normal reaction to the burning process. If necessary, you can remove coarse dirt with stainless steel cleaner and stainless steel wool. A standard chrome polish provides additional shine. Care and storage are crucial: if you clean your Tyropit regularly and always store it dry, you will enjoy it for a long time.

How does the wood gasification principle work?
The Petromax Tyropit and the Petromax Pyron rely on a well-thought-out design that ensures particularly efficient and low-smoke combustion. The double-walled stainless steel body is equipped with specially positioned air holes – both inside and outside. These ensure an optimal oxygen supply and make the fire flare up quickly as soon as the fuel is placed on the coal grate and ignited. This first phase of combustion is known as primary combustion. But that's not all: in the upper section of the double wall, there are additional air holes that pave the way for wood gasification. While the fire burns on the charcoal grate, hot air and the resulting wood gases rise between the two wall surfaces. These escape via the upper air holes but are burned by the rising flames before they exit. This is secondary combustion, also known as the wood gasification principle. Thanks to this innovative technology, both the Tyropit and the Pyron guarantee particularly effective and low-smoke combustion. They are thus not only visual highlights for your garden or terrace but also environmentally friendly. Through the almost complete combustion of wood and flue gases, the emission of pollutants is minimized – a benefit for your health, your neighbors, and the environment.
