The wooden handles are comfortable to hold and the rod ensures sufficient distance from the heat source. Because the cast iron has a seasoned finish, it is ready to use immediately. To clean, simply separate the cast iron halves using the hinge. Incidentally, you also benefit from the great properties of cast iron when cleaning, as it has a natural non-stick effect.
