The "Diesel Witch" plays a key role in Petromax's company history: On an adventure trip with a 1963 Magirus Deutz, Jonas Taureck breaks down in the middle of the African desert. He needs to recharge the vehicle's batteries. Instead of electricity, he finds the forgotten High-Pressure Lamp HK500 in a brightly lit desert village in Niger. This is the second birth of Petromax: Jonas Taureck retrieves the brand rights and production back to Germany to renew the traditional brand.

Proven expedition vehicle

The Magirus-Deutz truck was a popular expedition vehicle. It was robust, agile, and spacious enough to carry supplies for a multi-week tour. Jonas Taureck's vehicle still had an air-cooled Deutz four-stroke diesel engine for a tour across the African continent, much better suited than the modern water-cooled, much more heat-sensitive diesel engines.

Attention to detail

Collectors' hearts beat faster for this detailed model. The miniature version of the "Diesel Witch" is a front-steerer, the windshield wipers are part of the body, and the front fenders are equipped with guide rods. Running boards, headlights, door handles, trim strips, a large roof rack, and a spare tire – all just like the full-sized original vehicle. Even the license plate matches: the "MD" stands for Magdeburg, the location of the Petromax company.

For the 100th birthday of the High-Pressure Lamp HK500, Petromax is releasing the legendary "Diesel Witch" as a 1:43 scale model car. The special edition with the distinctive dragon logo and stylized depictions of the HK500 is unique and limited.
