Chai
Latte is the Indian answer to the English tea classic. The
traditional Indian taste from the teacup is popular and is one of the
absolute trend drinks. The aromatic spices of the Orient give the
Chai latte that special something. Preparation is quick and easy. In
this recipe, we show you how to make the wonderfully spicy chai latte very
simply using a percolator.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp black tea (coarsely chopped)
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp cardamom seeds
- 10 cloves
- 1 l water
- 500 ml milk
- 2 tsp honey
preparation
Place the black tea, cinnamon sticks, cardamom seeds and cloves in the filter basket of the percolator. Pour water into the percolator and place the standpipe with filter basket inside.
Place the filled percolator on the heat source or hang it over it and bring the water to the boil. From this point, brew the chai for approx. 10 to 12 minutes.
- Remove the percolator from the heat and remove the riser tube filter basket. Pour in the cold milk and stir in the honey. The Chai is now at optimum drinking temperature.
Recipe note
Tip: If you want the milk to be a little frothier, bring the chai mixture to the boil again briefly over the fire.
