In
France, seafood is fished directly from the beach. It really doesn't get any fresher than this. But the delicacies of the sea are also becoming increasingly popular internationally. Here is our favorite recipe for Breton mussels with a typically French character. With this recipe, you can bring a piece of France into your home, as we show you how to prepare Brittany mussels in a Dutch oven.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg mussels washed and free from byssus threads
- 3 finely diced shallots
- 3 garlic cloves, peeled and diced
- 150 g smoked bacon
- 20 g butter
- 300 ml cider
- 150 g crème fraiche

1 bunch of leaf parsley (chopped)
- Salt and pepper (ground)
preparation
Heat the butter in the Dutch oven and fry the bacon in it.
Add the shallots and garlic and fry briefly until the shallots are translucent.
Then deglaze with the cider.
Put the lid on and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
Add the mussels and cook for 4 to 8 minutes with the lid on. Stir the mussels several times during this time.
Fold in the parsley and crème fraîche and season with salt and pepper.
Serve with fresh baguette and a glass of cider.
