This recipe for sweet stick bread dough makes the hearts of all those with a sweet tooth beat faster. An airy yeast dough, refined with sugar and a hint of vanilla. Wrapped around the tip of the Petromax stick bread skewer and baked over the fire until golden brown, the result is an irresistible treat for young and old alike.
Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 80 g sugar
- 1 pck. vanilla sugar
- 1 pck. dry yeast
- 1 pinch of salt
- 200 ml milk (warm)
- 80 g butter or margarine
- 1 egg
preparation
Knead a yeast dough from all the ingredients.
Leave to rise in a 40°C oven for approx. 30 mins.
Then knead the dough again and divide into small balls about the size of a chicken egg. Form a long strand from each ball of dough and wrap it around the tip of the stick bread skewer.
Press the dough down again by hand. Hold the stick bread skewer over the embers of a wood fire and bake evenly for approx. 10 minutes.
Recipe note
Tip: Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and hold over the fire again briefly.
