A cola with currywurst – no, actually in the currywurst! Or rather in the sauce: This is not a mistake, but a truly brilliant recipe. Once you’ve tried it, it will become just as essential in the sauce as sparkling water is in cake. We’ll show you how to easily prepare this fruity and spicy currywurst in the lid of your Dutch oven.
Ingredients
- 5 bratwursts
- 1 onion (large)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 3 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 150 ml cola
- 1 star anise
- 500 g tomatoes (passata)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper
preparation
Preheat the Dutch oven lid, either on the grill or with 8 briquettes underneath. Add the oil, sear the sausages on all sides, then remove them and set aside.
Finely chop the onion, sauté it in the lid until translucent, then mix it with the remaining ingredients and the cola to form a sauce. Let it simmer for 30 minutes.
Cut the bratwursts into evenly sized pieces and fold them into the sauce. Sprinkle with curry powder and serve, for example, with fries.
